On Sunday, April 5, 2009, Center of Hope held its annual Building Fund State Rally, where members of the congregation formed teams based on the southern-state lineage they share.  Each team set out to raise the most money and become the Champion.  All proceeds raised went to the Center of Hope Building Fund.  This year there were four teams.  Each team adopted a color and a theme song.  On the day of the rally, each team wore their colors and when their team name was announced, they submitted their fundraiser totals while groovin' to their theme song.  Alabama kept its Championship title by raising approximately 39.7% of the total proceeds!!  Congratulations and thanks to all the teams and patrons who helped contribute to such an exciting and financially successful event!  As Dr. Perryman puts it :" You are all a winner!"  The full results are listed below in order of proceeds raised.  Below the results are the photos from the event.

2nd Place:  Texas/Louisiana/Mississippi

Color: Brown

Theme Song: Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now by McFadden & Whitehead

Percentage of Proceeds Raised:  29.8%

 

 

3rd Place: North/South Carolina

Color: "North Carolina Blue"

Theme Song: I Need You To Survive by Hezekiah Walker

Percentage of Proceeds Raised: 24.3%

 

 

4th Place:  Africa (comprised of Center of Hope's Youth)

Color: White

Theme Song:  The Nature by Talib Kweli

Percentage of Proceeds Raised:  6.3%

Dr. Perryman, Dietrekk, Leading Lady Perryman, Rodney, and Ayden take turns pulling raffle tickets and distributing the numerous prizes.  Team Africa sold the tickets to help raise money for their team.

When they're called, Team North/South Carolina comes to the front and sings I Need You to Survive.

When they are called, Team Africa comes to the front and dances to their song, The Nature by Talib Kweli (Eardrum, Warner Bros. 2007)

Their color was brown and their song was Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now by Mc Fadden & Whitehead (McFadden & Whitehead, The Right Stuff 1977)

When they're called, they come to the front and do the Hustle to Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now.

Their colors were black with silver, and their song was We're a Winner by The Impressions (We're a Winner, Universal, MCA, 1968)

When they're called, Team Alabama comes to the front and grooves to We're a Winner by The Impressions.
